Mrs. Wedad's Message 

We had a fantastic week! This week we celebrated Mother's Day, Sports Days, Field Trips for Grades 2 and 3, we conducted High School parent presentations and had special guests Aboud and Um Khamas, from Al Freej, made a special appearance at Ignite School! What a wonderful way to send our students off to Spring Break! 

I would like to thank Gulf Star and our parents for their generous volunteer time and support during Sports Day!

Even though this is a holy month and many students are fasting. Though the schedule is modified, teaching and learning remain a priority. Teaching will continue and attendance is expected. 

The school would like to invite all families for Iftar during the later part of Ramadan. We hope to have everyone participate and bring their favorite dish.  Further details will be shared. 

Student Council will be running this year's Ramadan Gift Bag for our Support Staff. They will be communicating how you can contribute in future Ignite Sparks.

Student photos will be taken the first week back from Spring Break. Please see the below schedule for your child's grade.

Our parent-teacher conferences were well attended and we have received positive feedback from both parents and teachers over these past few days. A reminder that our campus is open from 7:30 - 4:30 with Admissions, Finance, Director and Principals here to assist you.

Wishing everyone a safe and restful Spring Break. Ignite Sparks will continue the week of April 11.

International Day

We are excited to announce our upcoming International Day. This is an event that allows the 52 nationalities that make up our Ignite family the opportunity to showcase their heritage and culture.

This is a family lead event. If you would like to have your country represented during our International Day, please contact our Parent Association by email at ignite.parentsaffairs.kg@gmail.com. Your participation is strictly voluntary but most appreciated.

We would love to see all 52 nationalities participate so that our students get to experience the wonderful diversity within our community.

Thank you so much for two amazing days this week with Sports Day 2022!

We had a super fun time on our color teams. It was great to see the smiling faces of all of the students, parents and staff members. I really enjoyed how much sportsmanship the kids all showed - especially when they cheered for each other at the award ceremonies! I want to say thank you to the middle school students who helped on Tuesday with the elementary group! I would also like to thank all of the staff members for helping and for participating in some events. I was really happy to see families there to support their kids and the school for these two days. Thank you!

All students really did a lot of participating - which was the goal! All students received a ribbon or a certificate at the award ceremonies, but I want to highlight some really great achievements:

We’ve made it to Spring Break! With almost ¾ of the year behind us, it’s time to enjoy some well-deserved time off. Whether you are traveling or staying home, we wish you a safe and joyful time with family and friends.

Last week, there was a clerical error and we posted the MS Student Council instead of the ES Student Council. Here is the ES Student Council list.

These fortunate and well-deserving students successfully ran for elections in their homerooms and have now been recognized as our new crop of ES leaders. They will assist their teachers and lead in classroom, grade-level, and division-wide student activities, discussions and decisions.

As part of our internal leadership orientation, some of our Middle School Student Council (MSSC) leaders welcomed Grade 4 Elementary School Student Council (ESSC) leaders.

Part of leadership is learning how to speak and present your ideas. Each weekly session includes time for students to express themselves and receive feedback on their discussion. Based on today’s discussion, our student leaders are feeling more engaged in school life and proud of their new responsibilities and contributions as well as the way that their classmates see them in a new light!

After last Friday’s celebration of Hag al Lailah which many of you enjoyed, this past week was also chock full of events including UAE Mother’s Day, Sports Days for ES and MS and ending off with our Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Other exciting events took place on Tuesday and Thursday for parents of next year’s Freshman 9th Grade Class which will become the Graduating Class of 2026! Information was shared about credit hours, required and elective course selection, and student pathways. We are excited about connecting students’ needs and passions over the next four years as they make their way to college and into their career trajectories!

If you are an 8th grade parent and missed this week’s sessions, don’t worry as we will have several more in April and May.

The next and 3rd parent session will be held upon our return from Spring Break and will be announced shortly.

Spring Break Camp

For Ignite Students, friends and family!

Gulf Star is excited to announce that we are teaming up with Ignite School to deliver an action-packed Spring Camp this March.

The Camp will start on the 28th of March and will run for two weeks until the 8th of April. The Camp will run from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Drop off will be between 8:30 am and 9:00 am and pick up will be between 1:45 pm and 2:00 pm. All additional information can be found in the Info Pack attached.

We will be adhering to strict COVID-19 protocols and ensuring that all our activities are run safely.

All children will participate in 4 activities across the
day and activities will vary dependent on the
“theme of the week.”

There will be a range of activities on offer. In a typical day, you can expect your child to have at least two sports-based sessions, one `calming creative’ i.e. art and one `active creative’ i.e. dance or martial arts.

Activities on offer include:
football, dodge ball, gymnastics, martial arts, swimming, racquet sports, basketball, cricket, rugby, handball, gardening, performing arts (all kinds of dancing including hip hop for boys and girls), drama, and art. We also run team-building activities throughout the week.
