Week 38 (June 12 - June 18)

Mrs. Wedad's Message

I would like to update you on some planning for next year. Kindergarten through Grade 5 will be the Elementary School. This is reverting Grade 5 as this past year due to COVID guidelines and school spacing Grade 5 transitioned near Middle School. Grade 5 will have one teacher for each classroom and attend specialist classes as they did in prior grades. Middle School consists of Grade 6 - 8 and our High School will open with Grade 9 (Freshman class).

In addition to all of our returning teachers, we have already hired more teachers and Department Heads, as well as our MOE Coordinator and our College and Career Counselor. It has been a true pleasure to watch the growth and expansion of our school community and I can't wait to start next year and welcome our new students and teachers to Ignite School.

However, there is still much left to this academic year including teaching and learning. Active learning will continue in all subjects through July 6th so please ensure your child is attending school. Please don't miss the many fun end-of-year activities that have been planned for students and families.

In light of the recent COVID updates, I want to assure you that we continue to follow all guidelines.

Important Reminders

Our Finance Team wants to remind all parents that have not yet cleared their Financial Plan for 2021-2022 to please arrange this to ensure your child is able to transition smoothly into 2022-2023.

Spelling Bee Championship
The Spelling Bee for our finalists will be held on Wednesday, June 29. We are so proud of our students for their efforts in learning their age-appropriate spelling words.

Innovation Fair & Family STEM Workshop
Students have begun working on their projects for the upcoming Innovation Fair on June 28 - 29. Parents are invited to attend with their children on Wednesday, June 29 from 3-4:30 PM. There will be age-appropriate STEM activities and challenges set up for families to work out together. Parents will have the opportunity to view their children's projects on display, too. Come join and have some friendly competition with other Ignite families!

Move Up Day
Monday, July 4th all students will get to experience what the next Grade Level will look like. There will be scheduled times within the day that students will Move Up a Grade Level, meet with teachers, complete an activity and have the opportunity to ask their questions. We want to prepare our students to be excited about returning to school before leaving for Summer Break. If you have not yet re-registered your child, I encourage to do so.

New Teacher Promotions

We are pleased to share some exciting news! It is an honor to announce we have promoted Ms Ashanta Washington (Grade 3) to be our new Elementary Math and Science Head of Department as well as Mr Radouane Rouchdi (Grade 5-6 Math) to be our new Middle and High School Math Head of Department.

Water Bottle Reminder

Please remind your child to bring their water bottle every day. It is important they stay hydrated during the rising temperatures.
