Week 6

Mrs. Wedad's Message

Dear Ignite Families,

I hope this communication finds you well. Thank you for your support and input which keeps us motivated and energized.

As you may realize, our enrollment numbers have increased in certain grade levels which required a change in schedule to keep classroom sizes at an optimal number and to provide more access and opportunity for students to best utilize our teaching staff and resources.

This past week, we have implemented class changes due to added classes. These changes in schedule should maintain the same daily routine already established at Ignite School. The difference would be in Arabic and Islamic teacher assignments. On a positive note, the changes in schedule will create smaller class sizes and better-balanced classrooms.

Additionally, to clarify communication from teachers, the weekly planning for Elementary will be sent by teachers every Thursday and Middle School every Saturday for the upcoming week. This will clear parents’ concerns around a unified way to keep everyone informed of their child’s learning and affords them an opportunity to assist from home. All classroom communication will be shared via Alma while whole school communication will continue in this platform.

Below you can review the link for tutorials on how to access Alma.

Following the Mid-Term break, we will be opening our new canteen area to our 8th Grade students. They will have the privilege of enjoying what will soon be their High School Canteen area. We are excited to offer them a glimpse into their future here at Ignite.

We are committed to ensuring that all students can reach their potential and enjoy a quality academic environment at Ignite School. We welcome your feedback and will try our best to keep you informed of any further information.

A reminder our Monday Parent Coffee Mornings will continue. This offers a place for open conversation, a chance to meet with senior leaders and other Ignite families. Please RSVP below for a suitable Monday.

This past week we celebrated the opening of Expo with our own Ignite Expo Spirit Week. It was lovely to see all the children participate and show off their creative ideas. We look forward to many more such spirit weeks throughout the year. How lucky are we to have such an event right here in our own city?

We are moving along through October already! This week, we have had a lot of fun spirit wear days, which is amazing to see because this is where the scholars can show more of their identity. Today was PINK DAY. It is really neat to see so many who participate in this, which exemplifies school spirit!

We also celebrated World Teachers Day, in which the Parent Association was generous to provide special treats to recognize all the hard work our teachers do on behalf of scholars, to provide them a safe, welcoming environment. One thing I asked the Parent Association members afterward was something that stood out to them. One said, “We see kids happy, they love their teachers and they are engaged.” They reported that one teacher exclaimed how wonderful it was to be recognized and valued. That is so critical in any workplace environment.

When teachers can see their impact, it is motivating to continue. When they know they are valued, they gain even more confidence, which motivates them to continue being the expert in their craft. If there is one thing I know, it is that we have excellent teachers who love your children, just like I do. They can have all the skills in the world, but more importantly, it is the will to do their job well and to be recognized along the way to keep their cups full of optimism

What can I do to ensure my child is prepared and successful on the MAP assessments?

  • Please talk to your child about the importance of doing their best on the MAP Test. It is untimed, so encourage them to take their time and not rush. We want to know what your child can do, so we can focus on growing even more.
  • Please make sure your child has sufficient sleep the night before testing and that they are well-nourished before coming to school.
  • Make sure your child is at school on time, ready to test each day with their classmates.
  • Do not hesitate to reach out with questions regarding the school and other logistics as we strive for a positive, reliable testing environment for all learners.
